Lol I know the title and post have no correlation but I find the hardest thing to do is write about myself. Taking a mini break from answering questions, working on contracts, and some minor IT work in the office, I was asked to provided a bio for a presentation I have this Friday. I drew a complete blank. Couldn’t formulate anything on my word document.
Curse you humility…..for now I don’t have the ability to toot my own horn!
The answer is my brain did.
My reminder of things I need
In 2008 this was an essential piece to my summer wardrobe. I think I shall reach in the closet and pull the Beret back out. If not, I’ll go to the beauty supply store and buy a bunch in multiple colors! Y’all got snapbacks and fitted caps, I got the Beret!
And I’ve been getting a heavy dosage of John Legend, Ryan Leslie, Lauryn Hill, and Adelle. Subliminal message?

I’m at the point socially where I’ve never met a stranger
Funny thing happened this morning. While taking Hershey on his morning walk the strangest thing happened. The daily routine usually goes as such: open the door, he dashes out, does his business, darts back in ready to eat. Today was a little different. I opened the door and of course he dashed out, stopped and took a piss. As he’s using the bathroom there is a black cat about 15ft from him. I’m thinking to myself, “its about to go down”, (Kevin Hart voice). What happened next was definitely unexpected. Hershey looked back at me, then the cat, back at me one more time and then took off in the opposite direction. He found a nice cozy and private spot, finished his business and darted back into the house ready to eat. I was so surprised by him not going with his canine instincts of chasing the cat that I rewarded him with a bowl full of dry food mixed with wet food and 2 treats for being a “good boy.”
Maybe I have gone about this single thing wrong. I understand that at this junction of my young adulthood that I’m very content with being a single man but I also know that I will not want to have this life forever…I’m just not wired that way. What am I looking for? I know there isn’t a perfect woman that exists but will I find one that I’m willing to tear down this wall that I’ve built? Only time will truly tell but one thing is for certain, I’m now aware of the wall that I’ve “built.” With me being conscious of the “wall” I can better determine when the resistance on my end begins (usually when she begins to move in close) and deal with it. One half just isn’t ready for the emotional commitment and responsibility for another person ( a little selfish) but yet the other half is well aware of the importance of stability and a strong woman by my side. I want to have my cake and eat it to ( I’ve always disagreed with that line). I want to weigh all options but don’t want to be “40” just settling down. Maybe I meeting women that are in different places and the next step for them is something SERIOUS? Maybe I’m too quick to deny access and let them get close? Well something will give….maybe after all time is the key.
